As we carry you to your destinations, we’re conscious of working to minimise our environmental impact. With initiatives such as reducing waste and accelerating the development of sustainable aviation fuel, we’re continuing to work towards our goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
As part of our commitment, we also want to provide Qantas Frequent Flyer members with further opportunities to live more sustainably.
There's many ways in which our Qantas Frequent Flyer members can help to create a sustainable future. By working together, small changes can have a big impact.
Our Green tier will recognise and reward our members who make sustainable choices at home and when they travel.
To achieve Green tier status, members will need to complete at least five sustainable activities across six categories in their membership year.
The six categories of activities are:
Flying
Travel
Lifestyle
Sustainable purchases
Reducing impact
Giving back.
Once achieved, you’ll be rewarded with benefits like bonus Qantas Points or status credits. These benefits will be in addition to the rewards you get under your existing flying status or as part of Points Club.
While the program will not officially start until early next year, from 26 November 2021 members who offset their flights, home and car, install solar panels or make a contribution towards protecting the Great Barrier Reef will see these actions go towards meeting their sustainability target as part of attaining Green tier status.

The Qantas Group is a proud leader in sustainable aviation. In 2019, we were one of the first airlines globally to announce our commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and capping our net emissions at 2019 levels.
Since 2014, we've been partnering with other leading businesses to offset emissions through our B2B Qantas Future Planet program. Our Future Planet program provides a carbon offsetting solution for corporate businesses wanting to offset their operational or unavoidable emissions to reduce their environmental impact.
